Independent Medicare Guidance, Built Around You
Deatherage Senior Benefits is a Kentucky-based, independent Medicare agency. Because we're independent, we're not tied to a single insurance carrier. We help you compare options across the Medicare landscape so you can find coverage that actually fits your health needs and budget, not just what one company is selling.
Whether you're enrolling in Medicare for the first time, reviewing your current coverage during Open Enrollment, or helping a parent or loved one sort through their options, we're here to make Medicare make sense.
What is Medicare?
Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, and for some younger people with qualifying disabilities. It's made up of several parts: hospital coverage, medical coverage, and prescription drug coverage, along with optional plans offered through private insurance companies. Understanding which parts and plans work together can be confusing, which is exactly where an independent Medicare agent can help.
When should I enroll in Medicare?
Most people become eligible for Medicare the month they turn 65, with an enrollment window that opens three months before their birthday month and closes three months after. Missing this window can mean delayed coverage or added costs later, so it's worth reviewing your options early. Each fall, Medicare's Open Enrollment Period also gives current beneficiaries a chance to review and change their coverage.
